Alton’s Fried Chicken

My frustration level has reached an all-time high today. I am experiencing such network/computer/printer/apple tv problems it’s not even funny. None of the devices are communicating with each other…..much to my chagrin since I am trying to print out tax documents. I briefly entertained the idea of holding a “wine and cheese social” for them to get to get acquainted ….. but I’ve heard that liquids and electronics don’t mix very well. So I deliberated for a moment, and decided to take the short route – which means I took the laptop over to the printer and introduced them. But someone is clearly holding a grudge because it didn’t work. It’s times like this when I say to myself, “Self, why weren’t you born smart instead of pretty?”

And then I fall on the floor laughing…

Nothing like cracking yourself up to break the stress.


Fried Chicken – adapted from Alton Brown

2-3 lbs. boneless chicken breasts, cut into strips
2 cups buttermilk mixed with 2 tbs. hot sauce
2 tablespoons Hungarian paprika
2 teaspoons garlic powder
1 teaspoon cayenne pepper
2 cups flour
1 cup Panko Crumbs
Vegetable oil, for deep frying

Place chicken pieces into a plastic container and cover with buttermilk and hot sauce. Cover and refrigerate for 12 to 24 hours.

Drain chicken in a colander. Combine paprika, garlic powder, cayenne pepper, flour and panko crumbs. Dredge chicken in flour and shake off excess.

Fry chicken in deep fryer and serve hot!
