My Thousand word Thursday posts normally don’t contain any commentary, but this cake, which took me three days to make, is definitely worthy of such narrative…
Sabrina’s Sweet 16 Cake – inspired from a photo on Pinterest – May 31, 2013
Here’s how I did it:
First layer – homemade yellow cake, buttercream icing dam, and filled with crushed fresh strawberries…
I covered the berries with a layer of pastry cream ..
I covered the pastry cream with the second layer of cake, and crumb coated the whole thing –
I made two more layers the exact same way. I then covered each cake in rolled fondant. Sabrina used edible paint to mimic the ocean waves on the sides of the cake, and after I stacked them, I used crushed graham crackers as sand and used real sea shells as decoration.
Needless to say, she was thrilled 🙂
